Brighton And Hove City Council: Is Their Institution-Wide White Privilege Or Just An Issue In Housing Management?

A few months ago after one of my homeless clients was blackmailed by BHCC Staff, I wanted then to see what the management/work culture is like in the housing department.

I checked out the HR Recruitment and Feedback Website Glassdoor.com in order to see the reviews for staff who have left on the website.

This is the Staff Review from a former Housing Officer at Brighton and Hove City Council.

Watch the exchange above.

Daniel Harris Question Special Policy and Resource Committee. Friday 29th July 2022

“Following allegations of poor management in recent reviews left on the HR Website glassdoor, can you please provide the workforce equality data for managers within Housing in order to understand the full equality dynamics within the department?

I have to make this public, my original question was heavily amended. The staff review talks about ( I then read the Review out)

Is this institution-wide white privilege or just an issue in housing management?”.

Staff Equality in Housing Brighton and Hove City Council

This review was harrowing to review, but the process to highlight this on public record was tough. The council heavily amended my Original Question which I was trying to show the fact a staff member alluded to basically institutional racism.

The Data was not provided in public, why? because it backs up the disgruntled former housing employees’ allegations.

A whitewash Department. which needs serious reform.

I would love to see more people of colour and those with lived experience in Senior management / Director Level Roles.
